Robert Ayres is an international teacher of meditation and astrology. He has a bachelor’s degree in history, a master’s degree in the science of creative intelligence and is a master’s candidate in South Asian studies and Sanskrit. While an undergraduate at the University of California, Mr. Ayres was attracted to the ancient art and science of astrology, as well as meditation. While becoming a practitioner of these arts, he also became involved in the Rosicrucian mystery schools and associated schools in Kabbalah and Tarot. At the same time, there was a connection with the Theosophical Society and the writing of H.P. Blavatsky. Mr. Manly Palmer Hall of the Philosophical Research Society was also a fundamental influence in these early years. The work of Rudolf Steiner and his Anthroposophical Society is an important source of background knowledge.

In 1972, Mr. Ayres went to Europe to be trained as a teacher of Transcendental Meditation by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. This was followed by two more years with Maharishi in Europe in deep meditation and advanced instruction. Mr. Ayres became a teacher of advanced programs and was significantly involved in establishing and administering meditation academies in various locations throughout the United States.

In 1979, Mr. Ayres entered the business world, which took him all over the U.S. and included a regular television program. He lived and worked in Asia for four years, where he established the first metaphysical bookstore and resource center in Hong Kong. He established a New Age periodical and was frequently interviewed for newspapers, magazines and the radio.

During all this time, Mr. Ayres was practicing and teaching meditation and astrology as well as other metaphysical classes. He continued extensive research in occult and esoteric subjects. Upon his return to the U.S., Mr. Ayres resumed full time spiritual teaching and counseling. In addition to teaching over 50 different subjects and classes, he has written regular astrology articles for such publications as Tahoe Quarterly. Currently, his articles on different aspects of astrology can be found in Moonshine Ink, Healthy Beginnings, The Willow as well as on this website. He is interviewed every month on several radio talk shows.

Articles by Robert Ayres have been published in Llewellyn’s 2006 Starview Almanac and Llewellyn’s 2007 Moon Sign Book.

Mr. Ayres brings over 45 years of intensive experience and knowledge to his work. He has a clarity of perspective that is often missing in today’s New Age community. Personal research into the body of knowledge concerning the evolution of human consciousness and the spiritual worlds is the primary focus of his life. To share what he has learned with the world and promote self-sufficiency in each individual is his driving ambition.
